Description and Table of Contents
Description
This work is intended to provide students, librarians, information scientists and systems analysts with an introduction to the nature of bibliographic records and machine-readable bibliographic data formats, an outline of the major international exchange formats which have been developed for transfer of bibliographic data, and some indication of the problems raised by attempts to exchange data between agencies in different countries. Where possible, information is presented in a way which is suited to readers without expertise in computing technology, or in cataloguing for machine-based systems.
