内容説明

This dictionary acts as a reference source for the most significant characters in American literature over the past two centuries. It begins with the first American novel in 1789, "The Power of Sympathy", and ends with Norman Mailer's "Executioner's Song" which won the Pullitzer prize for fiction in 1980. It contains over 11,000 entries in A-Z format, supplemented by an index listing famous series characters such as Tarzan. It also has a three-tiered index, listing authors, their novels, and the characters in those novels.
