Object-oriented concurrent programming is a major new programming paradigm that exploits the benefits of object orientation concurrency, and distributed systems. This book provides an overview of the new paradigm through the programming language ABCL. It presents a complete description of the theory, programming, implementation, and application of the ABCL object-oriented concurrent system and expands on Yonezawa and Tokoro's work published in "0bject-Oriented Concurrent Programming"The extensively revised tutorials and papers cover parallel computation models, programming languages, programming techniques, language implementations in multi-processor architectures, programming environments, applications in distributed event simulation and construction of an operating system, parallel algorithms for natural language on-line parsing, and such new theoretical issues as reflective computation.
