Description and Table of Contents
Description
Piezoelectricity is a form of energy conversion which has merited considerable attention in recent years due to its applications in functional devices such as ultrasonic generators, filters and actuators. In order to understand the piezoelectric interaction process, knowledge of both crystallographic phenomena and the electronic fundamentals of electromechanical transducers are required. In this book a basic understanding of piezoelectricity is combined with an extended application to electromechanical conversion. No attempt is made, however, to rearrange established formulae and data. The description presented here is based on the formation of crystal physics, and the contents further cover the approach in solid-state physics adapted to electromechanical interactions, as well as in electronics for the application of transducers. In addition, details of electromechanical measurements are illustrated and recent applications reviewed.
