内容説明
This volume is devoted to examples of the ways fiction employs historicl references. The first paper looks at reference to paintings across a wide range of novels; subsequent contributions focus more specifically on Waverley, Little Dorrit, Hardy's last novels, Ulysses, Orlando and Cousin Bette. Boydell & Brewer are pleased to announce that they will be publishing for the English Association the annual volume Essays and Studies, with effect from 1991.The seven essays in this collection look at different ways in which novelists may (or may not) use historical reference in order to achieve their aims.LEONEE ORMOND (King's College, London)
