内容説明

Over four editions, the Textbook of Dermatology has established and maintained its position as worldwide market leader. It is the largest book on the subject in print and is the dermatologists' dermatology reference. The seventy-eight chapters in this new edition are broken up into sections, often covering no more than a single obscure disease entity, and which is a complete capsule of knowledge in itself comprising pathology, diagnosis and management immediately followed by the relevant references. For this edition every reference has been traced back to source to confirm its accuracy, and is cited in full. Over 1400 of the 1800 illustrations in this edition are in full colour and thus the physician will now see what he/she would clinically or histopathologically see down a microscope. An established work with a successful structure is unlikely to undergo radical change. Nevertheless the field is constantly evolving, especially at the extremes of life. The genetics of dermatology, the needs of premature babies, the demands of an ageing population for prolonged youth, and the connection between age, rheumatic and skin conditions are among the topics which redefine the balance of the book. Discussion of skin cancer, cosmetics and UV light, and the adverse reaction of the skin to all forms of medication reflect additional contemporary themes. In addition, seventeen new contributors, with special interests ranging from oral disease to genetics, pathology, virology, and metabolic medicine bring their particular insight and expertise to this edition.
