Description
The aim of this book is to provide an economically based analysis of organizations. It provides a broad overview of economic approaches to orgainzations, and illustrates the application of these approaches to organizational problems. broadly speaking, technical expositions are omitted in favour of discussions of the basic concepts involved. The book starts by comparing organizations and markets, and explores the ways inwhich they affect each other's structure and performance. The book also provides an introduction to five diffent economic approaches to organizations: behavioural theory; agency theory; transaction-cost economics; the economic theory of strategic management; and the evolutionary approach to organizations.
