内容説明
Part of a series, this study critically examines each of George Orwell's six novels in turn, identifing his contribution to the form and technique of the novel. The author shows how he later adapted the voice, style and subject of his essays and political journalism for this purpose. Orwell's ability to convey a moral and political perspective is examined as a response to the atmosphere and the political events of the period. The book discusses his desire to become a novelist and the extent to which he was influenced by his literary models. Valerie Meyers' previous titles include "George Orwell: An Annotated Bibliography of Criticism", co-edited with Jeffrey Meyers. Other titles in this series include "Albert Camus", "Saul Bellow", "Graham Greene", "Evelyn Waugh" and "Marcel Proust".
