Description

Carbohydrate disorders in the neonate are presented from a developmental perspective. Normal metabolic adjustments provide the basis for comparison. Each entity is presented from a clinical perspective based on a discussion of pathophysiologic and biochemical mechanisms. Specific topics are: neonatal hypoglycemia, infant of diabetic mother, transient diabetes mellitus, glycogen storage diseases, galactosemia, hereditary fructose intolerance, metabolic disorders of amino acid and fatty acid metabolism associated with hyoglycemia. The book is intended for paediatricians, neonatologists, general practitioners, and lawyers.
