Description

Epistemology - the theory of knowledge and its justification - has always been of central importance in philosophy. This reference work to the field contains over 250 articles ranging from summary discussions to essays on topics of current controversy. All the main theoretical approaches to the problems of knowledge are discussed, together with the different categories of knowledge itself - including scientific, historical, mathematical, a priori and moral - and the special problems associated wtih some of these. There are also entries covering individual concepts, arguments and problems, short definitions of technical terms and biographical articles.
