This is a beginner's guide for adults seeking a healthy exercise programme. This book is designed for anyone who has been reluctant to exercise because they're not sure how to get started, or who has been intimidated by the complex variety of exercise options available. The "ACSM" Fitness Book" aims to get readers started immediately. They take a four-item fitness test that assesses their current level of fitness based on the four components of fitness: cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility and healthy body composition. Next, using these results, they follow step-by-step instructions to create an exercise programme that's suited just for them.
