内容説明
The new technology of molecular biology permits the study of human function and diseases at the molecular level and this has enormous potential for diagnosis and treatment. The majority of clinicians, however, do not understand the most recent work undertaken in this area nor its implications within the practice. Molecular Basis of Neurology is the first title in a new series (edited by Thomas Cashey, President of the American Society for Human Genetics) which integrates the new biology with clinical medicine and is designed to make it accessible to the non-expert. Each volume within the Series deals with a clinical specialty on which the new moleclular biology has had the most significant effect. This new title is authored by doctors and scientists, each selected for their experience and expertise in their given field, to ensure maximum integration of the science with clinical medicine. The book commences with an introductory chapter written at a level suitable for the non-expert which clearly explains the fundamental principles of molecular biology. This foundation chapter includes a glossary and the text is supported by wide use of diagrams.
Each of the following chapters is devoted to a disease entity where molecular biology has been instrumental in providing new information in terms of diagnosis or treatment.
