Description
Singularities of solutions of differential equations forms the common theme of these papers taken from a seminar held at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton in 1977-1978. While some of the lectures were devoted to the analysis of singularities, others focused on applications in spectral theory. As an introduction to the subject, this volume treats current research in the field in such a way that it can be studied with profit by the non-specialist.
Table of Contents
*Frontmatter, pg. i*Contents, pg. v*Preface, pg. vii*Spectral Analysis of Singularities, pg. 1*Fourier Integral Operators with Complex Phase Functions, pg. 51*Hypoelliptic Operators with Double Characteristics, pg. 65*Differential Boundary Value Problems of Principal Type, pg. 81*Propagation of Singularities for a Class of Operators with Double Characteristics, pg. 113*Subelliptic Operators, pg. 127*Lacunas and Transmissions, pg. 209*Some Classical Theorems in Spectral Theory Revisited, pg. 219*Szego's Theorem and a Complete Symbolic Calculus for Pseudo-Differential Operators, pg. 261*Backmatter, pg. 284
