内容説明
This volume aims to provide a comprehensive review of basic and clinical research on cerebellar 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT, or serotonin) and its role in ataxia. Coverage progresses from detailed analyses of the cerebellar serotoninergic innervation, to studies of neurotransmitters in experimental models of ataxia, to clinical studies that document the efficacy of 5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) in treatment of cerebellar ataxia. Extensive findings presented indicate that novel aspects of central serotoninergic transmission - particularly volume transmission and receptor-receptor interactions - are of major significance in the cerebellum and account for the therapeutic effects of 5-HTP in cerebellar ataxia.
