内容説明

This two-part study examines the sources of law governing maritime boundaries and the particular problems of boundary delimitation in the Mediterranean Sea. Part I examines the evidence for the existence in international law of a substantive rule of law on maritime boundaries, and analyses the different view taken by adjudication, speculating on the reasons behind this attitude. Part II takes the Mediterranean Sea as a 'Study-field', highlighting the most problematic issues of maritime boundary-making - those particularly identified with enclosed and semi-enclosed areas. This important new work describes certain outstanding boundary problems in the Mediterranean and analyses the primary factors which could influence the prospect of setting such pending boundaries in the region. Through rigorous analysis, it attempts to give evidence of the practical value of the 'substantive rule' examined in Part I and, therefore, substantiate the legal argument in favour of that rule. This book is intended for practising and academic international lawyers; students/scholars of international law and international relations; diplomats, civil servants, and government officials, especially those in international organizations working in the area of maritime law.
