Description
This is the first volume in a new series which studies the status of land reforms throughout India. Focusing on Bihar, this volume contains original essays by scholars, activists and administrators who have in-depth knowledge of the current situation regarding land reforms in that state. Four main issues are dealt with: land ceiling laws; the status of tenant-cultivators; the progress in the allotment of government lands to the poor; and the problem of tribal lands and forest rights.
