What, if anything, is the unifying concept behind the rich variety of history, policy, research and practice that makes up adult education and training in Europe? This volume brings together leading scholars and presents in an accessible format the main trends in European adult education and training. Each of the thirty chapters deals with a particular country, and provides a survey of the development of adult education, the main organizations and providers, legislation, and current themes in research. The final chapter looks at the possibility of a comparative European adult education.
