Description and Table of Contents
Description
This volume presents papers from a workshop which aimed to promote a better understanding of the connections between recent problems in theoretical or computational mechanics, including bounds in composites, phase transitions, microstructure of crystals, optimal design, nonlinear elasticity, and new mathematical tools in calculus of variations, including relaxation and g-convergence theory, Young and H-measures, compensated compactness and quasiconvexity.
Table of Contents
- A Remark on Trace Bounds for Elastic Composite Materials (G Allaire)
- Recession Operators and Solvability of Variational Problems in Reflexive Banach Spaces (H Attouch et al.)
- Effective Moduli of Strongly Heterogeneous Composites (O Bruno)
- Variational Problems with Potential Wells and Nonhomogeneous Boundary Conditions (M Chipot & W Li)
- Some Recent Results on Polyconvex, Quasiconvex and Rank One Convex Functions (B Dacorogna)
- Lower Semicontinuity of Energy Functionals Depending on Elastic Strain and Chemical Composition (I Fonseca)
- Existence and Bang-Bang Theorems for Control Problems Governed by Hyperbolic Equations (J P Raymond)
