This text offers complete and detailed discussion of adminisrative law, placing it within its underlying historical, social and political framework. Administrative policies and judicial decisions are analyzed in depth throughout, and possible solutions to difficult, controversial questions are suggested. Since the second edition was published, there have been a large number of caselaw developments, particularly in the area of remedies, discretion and natural justice. Other more general changes in the pattern of administrative organizations include the changes in the nature of the Civil Service and the creation of new executive agencies. Quasi-public bodies have been farmed into "companies" which will have an impact on the type of remedies available against them. In this edition, a new chapter on European Community Law is included, covering its relevance for domestic administrative law, as well as the includsion of specific aspects of EC law at particular points in the book. New material has also been added to reflect the growing influence of doctrines from other domestic legal systems in Europe, such as France and Germany.
