Description and Table of Contents

Description

In spite of the diverse opportunities to participate in sports, gymnastics and other forms of exercise at the workplace and during leisure time, the number of young people who have pain in the locomotive apparatus of the body is increasing. Apparently, many of the forms of exercise offered do not take into account either the individual level of fitness, sensible energetics, or a balance of agility, strength and stamina. This work arose out of this realization and turned years of experience in manual medicine, physical therapy, rehabilitation, and sports medicine into a systematically structured exercise programme. The theoretical foundations (pathophysiology of agility and flexibility), the relevant experimental procedures, and the basic concept of therapy of limited mobility in the form of mobilization and stretching are discussed. However, the focys is on praxis-oriented at-home exercise strategies which include the doctor or physical therapist as a mediating "trainer" in an advisory and supervisory role.
