内容説明

This set of historical essays challenges assumptions about the century between the Mughal Empire and the British colonial period. The author rejects the theory of chaos and anarchy, documenting instead a highly sophisticated form of administration. He also questions whether India's villages were isolated and static societies, providing evidence to the contrary, based upon archival material in the Old Marathi language. The text concludes by exploring cultural relationships between castes in the 18th century.
