Description and Table of Contents

Description

Unsteady flow phenomena in turbomachines, such as cascade flutter, forced blade vibration, rotating stall, noise generation etc., are unwanted and deleterious phenomena which limit the performance and operation range of turbomachines. The contributed papers in this volume cover a great variety of unsteady flow phenomena in turbomachines and are of a traditionally high standard. New theoretical and numerical modellings plus experimental techniques and findings on the unsteady flows in turbomachines are presented. Key issues for establishing the reliable prediction methods are indicated, and suggestions are made for new technologies of suppressing the flow instabilities. The areas of study needed in the future are discussed, and the concluding report summarizes the current state of studies in the field of unsteady flow phenomena in turbomachines and propellers.
