内容説明

Police training has undergone considerable changes over the last few years, with far more emphasis placed on psychological studies. The introduction of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act in the UK forced the police force to examine their interviewing techniques, and to look to academics for help with this training. There was also a growing recognition of the need for higher education for police officers. This study draws together the many strands of applied psychology which are relevant to policing in the 1990s. Aimed at psychologists specializing in police work, police in training, and professionals working in the criminal justice field, the guide demonstrates how psychologists can contribute to the process of a police officer's understanding of people. The book, whilst drawing on recent psychological material, is written in a non-technical style.
