Description
This comprehensive record of the German university system, supplemented by essays on various topics of university life and sequences of illustrations, is a useful reference work for academic institutions and libraries, and is also of interest to graduates and academics. The aim of this bilingual German and English publication is to provide a detailed description of the German university system. Arranged alphabetically by city, German universities are presented in words and pictures. Details on addresses, faculties, research areas and professorships are followed by a description of each university's profile, and points of focus in its research areas and professorships are followed by a description of each university's profile and points of focus in its research and teaching activities. Important, as well as amusing, aspects of university life are examined in seven essays ranging from "Old Heidelberg, Thou Fair One!" to a documentary discussion entitled "Networked with the Whole World".
