Description

This textbook, which arose out of the Regional Studies Association conference on "regional futures" in Gothenburg, Sweden, details the various regional development programmes which are being pursued within Europe. Starting by setting the context for regional development, with emphasis placed upon the implications of Europe 2000+, each chapter reveals the mechanics of European development policy within different regions or countries in Europe. The concluding chapter draws out common themes and identifies appropriate lessons for the future of regional development in Europe and elsewhere.
