内容説明

The purpose of child protection registers is to provide a central record of those children who have been defined as in need of an inter-agency protection plan. This is important to ensure that protection plans are regularly reviewed by all the agencies involved. However, there is wide variation in the numbers of children on child protection registers in authorities of similar types, and operational practices also differ significantly. This report provides information on the reasons for these variations, on child protection investigations, and also on the effects of being placed on the register.

目次

  • Variation in national statistics of children on child protection registers
  • operational practice in English registers - a postal survey
  • entry to the child protection system in eight authorities
  • characteristics of referred families
  • the question of substantiation
  • filtering cases out of the child protection system
  • the initial protection conference and its decisions
  • the pathway to registration - an overview
  • the effects of registration
  • children's outcomes six months after initial protection conferences.
