Description and Table of Contents
Description
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the International Workshop on Trends in Distributed Systems, TreDS '96, held in Aachen, Germany, in October 1996.
The 21 revised full papers presented were carefully selected from a total of 51 submissions; also included is an invited paper by Sape Mullender and Paul Sijben on quality of service in distributed multimedia systems. Beyond the topic of the CORBA architecture and implementations, the book addresses interoperability issues, formal methods, multimedia communication services, distributed object systems, coordination protocols, reuse, workflow management, etc.
Table of Contents
Quality of service in distributed multimedia systems.- A CORBA compliant real-time multimedia platform for broadband networks.- Implementation of hidden concurrency in CORBA clients.- Passing objects by value in CORBA.- Communication middleware for reliable workflow management systems.- Metadata modelling for healthcare applications in a federated database system.- ReGTime - Rent Gigaflops some times.- Structuring call control software using distributed objects.- Design and implementation of a multimedia communication service in a distributed environment based on the TINA-C Architecture.- Exercise of TINA concepts for a video broadcast service over ATM networks.- CORBA-based data transfer for financial risk management.- Crossing technological domains using the inter-ORB request level bridge - preliminary performance study.- Coordination in evolving systems.- Interoperability of distributed transaction processing systems.- Reuse and inheritance in distributed object systems.- Finding optimal services within a CORBA trader.- Global trader cooperation in open service markets.- Analysing requirements using ODP.- Specifying multimedia binding objects in Z.- A generic and executable model for the specification and validation of distributed behaviors.- Formal description and interpretation of coordination protocols for teamwork.
