Description

The two-volume Proceedings of the 5th Congress of International Association for Semiotic Studies present a rich array of 281 essays and 7 plenary papers from among the 700 semiotists who convened at the University of California, Berkeley, in 1994. The plurality of presenters from 49 countries as well as the plurality of topics and approaches impressively illustrates the state of the art in international semiotic research. The Proceedings' leitmotif section, 'semiotics around the World', addresses the state of semiotic research around the globe. Fourteen further sections speak to a wealth of semiotic modalities, concepts, and personae.
