Description
In all industries there is a never-ending need to bring products to the market-place in the shortest posssible time frame and for the lowest possible cost. This is particulary true of the aero-engine industry whose concept to product cycle is typically measured in years. This text presents papers which discuss the current developments of computer applications in the aero-engine industry and exposes what might be available in the future. The collection of papers from both industrial and academic research should be of value to engineers, designers and managers from all sectors of aero-engine and associated sectors of industry.
Table of Contents
- The role of technology demonstrator programmes in reducing time, cost and risk to millitary gas turbine engine programmes, J. Nurse
- electronic definition of a cast turbine blade using unigraphics CAE, T. Horton and A. McDonald
- electronic mock-up, A.J. Bradley
- the development and validation of a model for the electron beam welding of aero-engine components, J.M. Robinson, H.J. Stone, S.M. Roberts and R.C. Reed
- reducing cost, time and risk in aero-engine compressor testing
