Not without difficulty, an international panel of experts chose from among nearly three hundred presentations which spanned the whole world in their origins and spanned the whole field of evoked potentials and magnetic fields. The brief of the panel was to select on the basis of scientific excellence, but also to ensure a balanced volume: balanced across sensory modalities; balanced between sensory and cognitive; balanced between basic and clinical; balanced between electrical and magnetic, and to identify new approaches that point the way ahead. One such is the integrative approach which is explored in Section 1 of the book.Section 2 provides a broad coverage of sensory responses, both basic and clinical.
