Description and Table of Contents
Description
This anthology provides travel writing by the memsahibs of the Raj who were anxious to see "the real India". The text seeks to salvage long-forgotten writings by Englishwomen travelling in India - writings that are perceptive, amusing and of historical value - and which have long been out of print. The book contains an in-depth introduction as well as introductions to its various thematic sections and biographical notes on the travellers included.
