Description
SMP 11-16 is a mathematics course for secondary schools which emphasises the relationship between mathematics and the world around us. This book may be used alongside the SMP 11-16 course or independently and is written for teachers who would like help in using activities which develop mathematical imagery and mathematical strategies. The 40 activities cover a wide range of mental mathematics. Some involve visualisation, some require pupils to interpret or construct diagrams, while others involve developing strategies for mental arithmetic. 27 photocopy masters accompany the activities, and an A1 2-sided poster is included. A grid providing a summary of the activities links each activity to one or more of the National Curriculum strands. Extensions offer more activities for able pupils.
