Consequently,thelikelihoodisthatWebapplication developmentwillgetintoacrisisanditisnothardtoimaginethatthiswould dwarfthe'softwarecrisis'identi?edlongagointhe1960s. WebEngineeringaimstoavertthispotentialcrisisbygeneratingaproactive approachtothesuccessfuldevelopmentofWeb-basedsystemsandapplications. WebEngineeringinvolvestheuseofscienti?c,engineering,andmanagement principlesandsystematicapproacheswiththeaimofsuccessfullydeveloping, deploying,andmaintaininghighqualityWeb-basedsystemsandapplications. AnotherworkshopisscheduledforWWW10inHongKong inMay2001.
