Description
The remit for this study was to review the internationally comparative studies of educational achievement that have involved England. In compiling this report, information has been collated from the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement, International Assessment of Educational Progress; and on a smaller scale studies that compare England with other countries, comparative case studies detailing interaction between education, society and culture, and studies on the effectiveness of the English system itself. The text highlights the increasing internationalism of the field of educational research and the reasons for this, and details the review of the evidence collected.
