It is now possible to provide drivers and passengers of the future with a fantastic range of entertainment and information services on the move. This has been brought about by a convergence of consumer electronics, information appliances, and affordable broadband networking. Therefore, the car will become a convenient and productive place to spend time. As well as entertainment, new telematic services provide information helping to make journey times more predictable and reduce stress on the driver. "Multimedia Networks for Automotive Applications" introduces the technology which makes it possible for vehicle manufacturers to include advanced information and entertainment systems for driver and passengers.
