A fresh examination of Dutch transatlantic trade in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, this multi-authored volume demonstrates that Atlantic commerce was much larger and valuable for the Dutch economy than hitherto thought, and it challenges the assumed dominance of commerce with Asia.
