This textbook serves as a resource for intending or experienced teachers, trainers and support workers within post-compulsory education who are working towards professional awards based on National Standards. Although the authors, who are all experienced practising teacher educators, have based the discussion firmly on the Further Education National Training Organisation (FENTO) framework, the issues that are addressed are relevant to the broader post-14 Learning and Skills sector. They include advice on: relevant developmental activities which generate appropriate evidence from practice - the structuring of a Personal Development Journal; the development of a Practitioner File incorporating schemes of work, session plans, learning contracts, action plans, assessment, specification and more; and identifying the theoretical concepts underpinning familiar teaching approaches.
