内容説明

The Japanese Archipelago extends from 45 DGN to near the Tropic of Cancer. Its fish are diverse, representing about 15% of world's fish species, and a major proportion of those in the Pacific Ocean. These two volumes, compiled by leading authorities in Japan, provide the most up-to-date and complete encyclopaedia of the fish of the Pacific. Of the 3300 species recorded in Japan, 2900 are represented here in colour photographs, and the remaining 400 in black-and-white photographs and drawings. Separate illustrations are included to show sexual dimorphism, growth stages, and geographical and seasonal differences. The English text has been edited by Dr Katherine Muzik, a research associate of the Smithsonian Institution and the Museum of Comparative Zoology, Harvard.
