内容説明

A survey, area by area of London in literary fact and fiction, where the author offers a walk in words, seeking out the places that provided inspiration as well as accommodation for so many writers, novelists and poets as well as diarists, journalists, historians and publishers. There are references to, among many others, Ben Jonson's Bartholomew Fair, Oscar Wilde's Cadogan Hotel, Joe Orton's Islington and Conan Doyle's consulting rooms in Devonshire Place. The author's other works include "Where did the Forties Go?", "Other Theatres" and "The Map of London".
