内容説明
Since the 1960s, various toxic metabolites of pseudomonas aeruginosa infections have been found and characterized, their roles in pathogenicity have been clarified, and immunotherapy using toxic metabolites and cell wall components has been effective. However, eradication of P. aeruginosa from areas of local inflammation in bronchiolitis or bronchitis, such as diffuse panbronchiolitis or cystic fibrosis, has not yet been achieved. This volume, based on an international symposium, is an update of basic research and clinical aspects of P. aeruginosa infection. The first two sections are devoted to the molecular biology of P. aeruginosa and virulence factors such as proteases, phospholipases, cytotoxin and alginate. The third section discusses host-parasite interactions of P. aeruginosa infections in cystic fibrosis, panbronchiolitis and burn and trauma patients. Section 4 covers passive and active immunization against P. aeruginosa, while the final section focuses on drug resistance and mode of action of P. aeruginosa-specific antibiotics.
