Description
There has been a surge of progress made in recent years in Parkinson's research. The cloning of receptors for dopamine has been realized, and significant advances have been made in understanding the molecular nature of the interaction between dopamine and mediation of its actions in the brain. In addition, the mechanisms of action of MPTP, a toxin producing parkinsonism in humans and animals, has been further elucidated and is now largely understood.
