内容説明
Maternal mental health is of vital importance. Many mothers caring for infants and small children suffer depression and other forms of mental illness. It is essential that they are understood, as a great deal can be done to help tham and to promote mental health in mothers. This book sets out to examine the great variety of disorders which occur during pregnancy and the post-partum period, and which make childbearing the most complex psychological event in human experience. There are chapters on infertility, mental health during pregnancy, child abuse, infanticide, and services for mentally-ill mothers. It also includes case descriptions and personal accounts of mothers afflicted by foetal and infant loss, post-partum depression, and mother-infant relationship disorders.
