さまざまな個々の写真や絵葉書は、少なからず研究対象になってきたが、それらを編集したアルバム「写真帖」の研究はなぜか少ない。まだ交通不便であった時代の日本人に、世界をみせ、その地理を語ってきた写真帖の歴史を、地誌とのかかわりから明らかにしてみよう。
