Description
The Brontes: Family History puts this extraordinary and tragically short-lived literary family into the topographical, familial and social context of their times. Like Dorset is to Thomas Hardy, so Haworth and the Yorkshire moors are to the Brontes. Secrecy, local gossip and misinformation have all conspired to confuse and add to the mystique that surrounds the true stories of the three sisters and their brother Patrick, none of whom lived to forty years of age.
This six-volume set includes contemporary biographies and responses, plus pamphlets, press cuttings, correspondence and early visitors' accounts of Haworth and its neighbourhood.
